Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened in 1989 as Disney-MGM Studios but was renamed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on January 7, 2008.

Themed areas in the park are Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Streets of America, Animation Courtyard, Sunset Boulevard and Pixar Place, the newest section of the park.

Attractions:  Hop indoors to travel through Hollywood on The Great Movie Ride.  I reccomend picking between The Indian Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show.  We didn’t think the 33-minute Lights, Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show lived up to all the hype, a little boring in places.  The Star

Wars themed simulator Star Tours.  Muppet Vision 3-D is a great 3-D film for children and Muppet fans.  Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure takes you down to the size of an insect.  Look up at the grass and watch your kids play on this larger-than-life, in the dirt adventure!  Learn how the movies are made on backlot tour.  Never seen Journey into Narnia, but heard horrible reviews.  The Voyage of The Little Mermaid is an enjoyable show nomatter how old you are, hear all of the classic songs!  Watch the Playhouse Disney-Live on stage! show if you have young kids, otherwise you will probably get bored.  Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage is our favorite show in the park, well besides Fantasmic!.  This show combines your favorite songs from the movie and talented acting into a 30-minute must

see!  Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith takes you on a roadtrip like no other.  Go through twists, turns and LOOPS in Tinseltown on this high speed rollercoaster.  But that’s not the only thrill ride in this park.  Drop 13 stories on the ever popular Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  How can you top off a day like this?  Everyone should attend the nightime spectacular, Fantasmic!.  Watch as Disney characters, lasers, lights, fountains and special effects come together.  1 or more shows are shown nightly, depending on how busy the park is.  This 25-minute show is very popular so come 30-45 minutes in advance (seating

begins 90 minutes prior to each show) to make sure you get a good seat for this outdoor show.  Or eat at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, The Hollywood Brown Derbie, or Hollywood & Vine to get reserved seating for this show.

Restaurants:  The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is a great place to eat if you want to return to a 50’s-era drive-in theatre.  Look up and see the “stars” or watch science-fiction trailers and cartoons on the huge screen all from your “car” or table.  Talk about atmosphere, and the food is just as good. Burgers, milk shakes, pastas, steaks, chicken,  sandwiches, seafood etc. are served here. Reservations are suggested.  Bringing kids?  If you’ve seen Toy Story then you probably remember Pizza Planet.  Well eat at Pizza Planet in the Toy Story Pizza Planet Arcade.  Is that not your cup of tea?!  If you want to pay a little more then eat at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
